Founded in 1921, Charity League is Charlotte’s longest active women’s charitable organization serving children.  For 97 years members have recognized the promise and possibility or our area’s children, and provides a variety of resources to foster success in learning and literacy.

Specifically, Charity League assists at-risk children by providing seventeen (17) Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) and representatives at local hospitals with uniforms, backpacks, school supplies and learning essentials so children have the necessary tools for success.  Charity League also supports The Greater Enrichment Program and provides music to patients at Hemby Children’s Hospital.  Importantly,  support also extends to communities where children are living under challenging circumstances, to provide comfort to children in times of crisis.

Charity League launched its first “Our Little Library -Improving Literacy One Book at a Time”, through a partnership with the Pine Valley Neighborhood Community Association, serving approximately 200 children.  Charity League added a library in the community building to enhance the existing afterschool community program and promote literacy and we are looking forward to expanding these partnerships.

Please join us for a fashion show with a purpose, and help us continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Charlotte’s children! Click the button below to purchase your ticket today!

Pinewood Book Fair

We are partnering with Pinewood Elementary School to provide volunteers at their book fair.

We are giving a free book to every 1st and 4th grader in the school.

Melissa Miller and Kirstan Hamilton, Chairs of our Service Projects committee will send out a Sign up Genius soon, but in the meantime wanted to let you know so you could put this on your calendar.

The Pinewood Book Fair will be:

Thursday, 11/09 from 8:30a-9:30a for 1st graders

Monday 11/13 from 9a-10a for 4th graders.

Thursday is our Charity League November meeting, but it does not start till 10 am so we should have time to volunteer and then get to the meeting on the 9th. I will be at the Thursday book fair but am unable to be at the Monday one (my husband is having surgery that morning).

Thank you, and again feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
