Charity League Showcase of Artisans
(formerly the Charity League Bazaar)

photoWhen the Charity League Bazaar began 60 years ago, it was Charlotte’s premier fundraising bazaar. Crowds of guests lined up outside the Merchandise Mart long before the doors opened, eager to hit the Attic Sale, enjoy an elaborate luncheon prepared, transported and served by Charity League members, see members modeling gently used clothing, and shop for Christmas items, pillows, floral arts, and boutique items handcrafted by members in workshops held during the summer.

photos Currently, this fall event combines the best of yesterday’s traditions with current trends under a new name – Charity League Showcase of Artisans – and a new venue, the parish hall of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. In addition to traditional fine holiday designs by our own Charity League volunteers, the event showcases jewelry, paintings, pottery, fine woodworking, and fashion accessories, created and sold by outside vendor artisans who handcraft all items. Charity League members offer tea and treats, and delight guests with displays of delicious home baked bread, cookies, cakes, and pies. As has been our tradition for more than six decades, all proceeds from the event benefit Charlotte-area children.
